Stories from Prison
In this collaborative project, men imprisoned at the Louisiana State Penitentiary, Angola, designed commemorations of loved ones who died while they were incarcerated. They sent their designs to students at the University of New Orleans who went out and performed the commemorations together with friends, family, and community members. Stories from Prison Honoring Loves Ones was incorporated as an online storymap in States of Incarceration, and exhibited at the Ashé Cultural Arts Center with stories and monologues performed live by students from the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts.
